Governor Maura Healey and Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll Endorse Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell for Re-Election

Healey and Driscoll praise Campbell’s leadership on affordability, housing, and delivering results for working families

BOSTON, MA—Today Governor Maura Healey and Lt. Governor Driscoll announced her endorsement of Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell’s re-election campaign, praising Campbell’s leadership in making life more affordable and protecting opportunity for every family across the Commonwealth.

“Especially in this moment, Massachusetts is lucky to have the best Attorney General in the country standing up for the people of our state every single day,” said Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. “Attorney General Campbell is working to make Massachusetts more affordable – from housing to healthcare – and she’s delivering real results. We’re proud to endorse her for re-election because we’ve seen firsthand how deeply she cares about the people of Massachusetts and how hard she works to make our state stronger, fairer, and more affordable for all.”

Since taking office, Campbell has delivered major victories for affordability and fairness: returning $32 million to underpaid workers, blocking unfair utility rate hikes that saved families $437 million, protecting over $3 billion in investments in Massachusetts from the Trump Administration’s efforts to strip critical education, healthcare, and research funding, and creating the Housing Affordability Unit to hold predatory landlords accountable and expand access to safe, affordable housing.

I’m deeply honored to have Governor Healey and Lt. Governor Driscoll’s support,” said Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell. “We share a commitment to making Massachusetts a place where every family can build a stable and secure future – with affordable housing, fair wages, and a government that works for them. Together, we’ll keep fighting to make life better for people who are too often left out or left behind.

Governor Healey and Lt. Governor Driscoll’s endorsement adds to the growing list of leaders and community members rallying behind Campbell’s campaign. Yesterday, Campbell earned the endorsement of U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern and a coalition of Worcester County leaders.

About Andrea Joy Campbell:

Andrea Joy Campbell’s journey to become Massachusetts’ first Black woman Attorney General didn’t follow a traditional path. After losing her mother in a car accident as an infant and entering the foster care system while her father was incarcerated, Andrea was raised by a community of family and educators who believed in her potential. Her twin brother, Andre, died in Department of Correction custody due to inadequate medical care – a tragedy that drives her fight for accountability and fairness in our justice system. The first in her family to go to college, Andrea went on to graduate from Princeton and UCLA Law, serve as legal counsel to Governor Deval Patrick, and become the first Black woman to serve as Boston City Council President. Raised in Roxbury and the South End, Andrea is a proud Boston public school graduate who attended five different schools, including Boston Latin. Her story – of loss, resilience, faith, and opportunity – is an American story of what’s possible when the government works for people and when someone is in your corner fighting for you.
