Endorsement Cites AG Campbell’s Record Fighting Gun Violence and Protecting Massachusetts Communities
BOSTON, MA—This week, Giffords PAC announced its endorsement of Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell’s campaign for re-election, citing her fearless record fighting gun violence, holding gun traffickers accountable, and protecting Massachusetts’ landmark gun safety laws.
“With gun violence taking tens of thousands of lives every year, Bay Staters rely on their attorney general to hold those who endanger our communities responsible, enforcing the law without flinching. Attorney General Andrea Campbell has been a courageous ally standing with victims of gun violence, and has led the charge to make Massachusetts safer,” said former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. “She will continue to hold gun traffickers accountable, fight the wave of ghost gun manufacturing, and refuse to let the gun industry abuse the system for its own gain. I am proud to endorse Andrea Campbell for reelection as attorney general.”

Since taking office in 2023, Attorney General Campbell has made gun violence prevention a defining priority of her tenure. She created the first-ever Gun Violence Prevention Unit in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, doing critical work to enforce gun and consumer protection laws, support community-based gun violence prevention efforts, and protect commonsense gun laws from legal challenge. Her office distributed $1 million to local organizations to address the public health crisis of gun violence, supported vital legislation to prohibit the distribution of ghost guns, and has continued to prosecute the organized criminal networks that put illegal guns on Massachusetts streets.
Campbell is also endorsed by Governor Maura Healey and Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, U.S. Senator Ed Markey, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, U.S. Rep. About Andrea Joy Campbell:
Andrea Joy Campbell’s journey to become Massachusetts’ first Black woman Attorney General didn’t follow a traditional path. After losing her mother in a car accident as an infant and entering the foster care system while her father was incarcerated, Andrea was raised by a community of family and educators who believed in her potential. Her twin brother, Andre, died in Department of Correction custody due to inadequate medical care – a tragedy that drives her fight for accountability and fairness in our justice system. The first in her family to go to college, Andrea went on to graduate from Princeton and UCLA Law, serve as legal counsel to Governor Deval Patrick, and become the first Black woman to serve as Boston City Council President. Raised in Roxbury and the South End, Andrea is a proud Boston public school graduate who attended five different schools, including Boston Latin. Her story – of loss, resilience, faith, and opportunity – is an American story of what’s possible when the government works for people and when someone is in your corner fighting for you.
