BOSTON – Laborers’ Union Local 175 today endorsed Andrea Campbell for Attorney General, citing her ongoing commitment to standing up for workers’ rights throughout her legal and public service career. Local 175 represents 1,250 members across the Merrimack Valley on the forefront of construction, building and heavy highway industries.
“Laborers’ Local 175 is proud to stand with Andrea Campbell in her candidacy for Attorney General,” said Michael Gagliardi, Laborers’ Local 175 Business Manager. “Our members have no doubt that Andrea will leverage the legal powers of this office to improve outcomes for hardworking residents across Massachusetts because that’s exactly what she’s done as a lawyer and public servant. We are ready to hit the ground running and do everything we can to elect Andrea Campbell as our next Attorney General.”
“I want to thank Laborers’ Local 175 for their endorsement. I’m thrilled to have their support in this race,” said Campbell. “Our hard working residents need an advocate in the Attorney General’s Office. As AG, I will ensure they receive the pay and benefits they are entitled to, and I will push to change the behavior of companies that take advantage of our workers.”
Throughout her legal and public service career, Campbell has repeatedly stood with working people across all industries. She joined hotel workers laid off during the pandemic to call for fair contracts and job protection. As a Boston City Councilor, Campbell authored a resolution that passed the Council unanimously calling for transparency and better analysis from the MBTA on service cuts to commuter rail lines in order to stand with union members in their push against MBTA privatization. Most recently, Campbell joined the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters to call on the Copley Marriott to pay workers standard wages and benefits.
